BP3- Tetiyette living in Guadaloupe

The author conveys the message by showing us how in Guadeloupe back then it was common for young women to marry the wrong/mean man who would only look right and kind in the beginning. While the family such as the parents don't even care for you afterwards now that the daughter is a married woman. Which is tragic to think about because Tetiyette had been offered to marry two people before the devil, but because the goat ate grains and the pig wasn't exactly what she was looking for she choose not to. I believe the intended audience is young woman who do not know what they're getting into when they decide to marry men who look appealing to their eye but yet don't know anything about them.
My personal opinion on the author's stance is that they are bringing awareness to these types of situations, perhaps giving the young women of Guadeloupe an idea of how things can occur if they want something their way and their way only. As well as teaching them to be independent and be safe out there because not everyone is always going to be at your disposition when you need someone not even your closest family or friends when you need the help.
"'Harry, Harry! Don't you want to go see what's happening to our daughter' Her husband replied 'Agh! I don't give a damn! I had already warned her to beware.'" this quote from the short story Tetiyette and the Devil from the book Green Cane and Juicy Flotsam. It supports my opinion because it clearly shows her own dad didn't really bother to care what was happening to her daughter that was getting eaten by the devil while she desperately called out for him. The father claimed to have already warned her therefore he did not care what her problem was.
